The Runners/Walkers Training Advantage

Whether this is your first training program, or you are a seasoned professional, it is of utmost importance that your body function,at every level, to its highest potential. If you currently have pain or discomfort, it is obvious that your problem should be assessed - but the truth is that all athletes need a periodic functional/structural evaluation to make sure that they are not developing a problem that has yet to cause pain, or in the very least to make sure they are performing at their highest potential. Our doctors and therapists are experts at assessing and treating athletes - particularly endurance athletes in training programs. Over the years, we have assessed hundreds of participants in programs such as Team In Training and Train to End Stroke.

Dr. Dana Clark is himself a triathlete and utilizes the same treatment protocols he learned personally from Dr. Jeff Spencer, the medical director of all seven of Lance Armstrong’s Tour de France cycling teams. Lance Armstrong felt that Dr. Spencer and his methods were probably “the most valuable member” of his team. These are the same treatment methods he has utilized with other professional sports teams and high level performers like Tiger Woods.

The fact is that no professional athlete would ever consider training without having experts in their corner to keep them at peak performance - and neither should you. The difference that proper functional assessment combined with personalized recommendations can make over a course of training is staggering. It not only prevents injury - it creates tremendous advantage for every level of athlete. There is no need to suffer through the training process - or to put undue stress on the muscles joints and soft tissues. Most of our patients have gone on to not just reach their race goals, but to create lifestyles of exercise and wellness.

Remember, there is more to it than just stretching, hydration, nutrition, a good pair of shoes and mileage. Structure is everything. Optimizing its ability to perform is the difference between just finishing and THRIVING.
